Hackney Greens are a friendly group of Hackney residents who work together to represent the green agenda in Hackney, fighting for local issues that affect the people of Hackney.  We are an entirely voluntary organisation with no full time staff, the more of us that get involved, the more we can do, everyone is welcome to help us campaign for a fairer, sustainable society.

  • Hackney Council passes Green motion: “Standing up for Responsible Tax Conduct - Councils for Fair Tax Declaration”

    On 24 January 2024, the Green Group’s motion on Responsible Tax Conduct was passed at a Full Council meeting. Polling from the Institute for Business Ethics finds that “corporate tax avoidance” has, since 2013, been the number one concern of the British public when it comes to business conduct. Around 17.5% of public contracts in the UK have been won by companies with links to tax havens. It has been conservatively estimated that losses from multinational profit-shifting (just one form of tax avoidance) could be costing the UK some £17bn per annum in lost corporation tax revenues.

    Join Zoë and Antoinette for our final weekend of campaigning in the London Mayor & Assembly elections and De Beauvoir by-election

    We will meet by St Peter's Church in De Beauvoir at 10:30am & 2:00pm, with lunch provided.

    During our action sessions, we knock on residents' doors and deliver leaflets to get the word out about what the Green Party stands for, and how Greens make a difference locally and across London.

    This is our final push, with just 4 days left before polling day!

    Session 1: Meet at 10.30am for a briefing and then head out into the ward at 11am until ca. 1pm

    Lunch/Chat/Debrief: 1pm-2pm (RSVP for details)

    Session 2: Meet back at 2pm back at St Peter's Church for another round of door-knocking and/or leafletting until 4.30pm

    The team will provide a full briefing and training at the start of the event, and you'll be buddied up with someone experienced if you are relatively new. No need to prepare anything in advance, just bring yourself and some comfy shoes. Friends & family are very welcome!

    Green Party co-leader Adrian Ramsay is joining Hackney Greens for our final Sunday of campaigning before polling day!

    We will meet by St Peter's Church in De Beauvoir at 10:30am & 2:00pm, with lunch provided.
